Associate Professor of Accounting
Co-Director (Academic Research), School of Accountancy Research (SOAR)
School of Accountancy
I joined SMU because of its research strength, American-style work culture, people, and location. I was previously employed by Wharton, and my ex-senior colleagues there also recommended SMU over the other two universities in Singapore when I asked them for advice.
I enjoy the fact that I can do what I like most (research) with people that I also like (my colleagues).
The proximity to home (Taiwan) and the higher quality of life compared to other major cities in the world.
My favorite location on campus is my office.
It's easy to live in a bubble as an expat, so I enjoy the fact that SMU has allowed me to be connected with Singaporeans (my students and some of my colleagues) and making me feel less like a foreigner.
It's a great working environment and joining this institution so that I can contribute my best to helping build SOA is a career move I've never regretted.
